Gum Bichromate Portfolios

Kay Kenny has been working with gum bichromate, a non-silver process in which watercolor pigments are sensitized to light in an handmade emulsion that is spread onto watercolor paper, and exposed through a contact negative to ultraviolet light. She combines this historical process with text to create contemporary photographic narratives.

The gum bichromate process is one of several non-silver photographic processes invented in the 1830's and still in use today.
